fire safety PEEPs

PEEPs

All building managers are required to develop emergency plans which enable everyone including disabled people to escape from the building in the event of fire.  The fact that these  emergency plans must not rely on the assistance of the Fire and Rescue Services in order to make them work presents building managers with a difficult task.

Personal Emergency Evacuation Planning (PEEPs) is designed to ensure the safe evacuation of people with disabilities in the event of an emergency. Increased response times from emergency services and Government Guidance means that 'stayput' policies are no longer appropriate however the development of phased evacuation plans is a specialised area.

Our multi-discipline team, which will include our highly experienced Fire Engineer, will work with you to develop an effective PEEPs process which is appropriate for your organisation whether it is a single office building or a high-rise providing social housing accommodation.

The PEEPs will include:

  • How disabled people will be identified;
  • The consultation exercise which must take place with the disabled person, family and other agencies;
  • Analysis of the disabled person’s requirements;
  • An effective strategy for implementing the PEEPs;
  • Assistance with the communication strategy will ensure that all occupants of the building fully understand and are able to execute the defined strategy for disabled people in the event.

Our business solution web-enabled database will enable a bespoke electronic PEEPs template to be developed which will enable the output data from the capture exercise to be stored and montiored. Data can be captured through the use of PDAs or mobile phones or paper. Review of individual PEEPs can be configured to ensure that your organisation has an accurate record of those requiring assistance in the event of fire
